Recording Prospecting Activities for a Contact
Use prospecting activities to record and create a history of interactions with your contacts that can be classified as prospecting activities. (See Entering Notes for a Contact to learn how to record general notes for your contacts.)
All prospecting activities are recorded in the contact’s Contact History.
Note If the prospecting activity results in a change in the contact’s status, remember to change their status and/or prospect type on the contact profile. The status and/or prospect type can also be changed in Business Pipeline (see Using Business Pipeline).
Note You do not need to manually record any communications sent via IXACT Contact, i.e. letters or mass emails; these are recorded automatically in each contact’s Contact History.
To enter prospecting activity for a contact:
- Open the contact record, and then click the Prospecting Update button.
- Change the date and/or time of the entry, if required.
- Select the activity type from the list.
- Enter any notes about the interaction.
- Click Save.
Note You can create your own “custom” prospecting activity types by clicking the Modify List link above the list. While you can add as many of your own activity type as you like, you cannot delete the six pre-loaded types. If you add your own activity types, they will automatically be reflected in your Goal Setting setup (see About Goal Setting) and the Dashboard Prospecting Activities widget.
